Apple goes multi-model at WWDC 2026: Gemini-powered Siri, Claude & ChatGPT as Apple Intelligence extensions

Apple rebuilt Siri on a custom ~1.2T model licensed from Google Gemini (~$1B/yr) and added an Extensions system letting users pick ChatGPT, Gemini, or Anthropic Claude to power Apple Intelligence. Apple becomes a model-agnostic distribution + private-cloud layer rather than building its own frontier model.
