China launches a 29 nation AI cooperation body as Xi backs open source

At the Shanghai World AI Conference, 29 countries signed on to a new China led World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organization headquartered in Shanghai, and Xi Jinping used his first in person WAIC keynote to champion open source AI and pledge AI training for the Global South. It stands up a rival pole to Western AI governance that EU and Dutch enterprises will need to track.
