China forces ByteDance Doubao and Alibaba Qwen to switch off humanlike AI agents

Ahead of the Cyberspace Administration anthropomorphic AI rules taking effect July 15, Qwen disables user created and humanlike agents on July 10 and Doubao follows on July 15, wiping past conversations. The measures squeeze companion bots while deliberately sparing enterprise productivity agents.
