Anthropic launches Claude Sonnet 5 with near Opus performance at a lower price for agents

Claude Sonnet 5 is Anthropic most agentic midsize model yet, autonomously planning and using browsers and terminals at close to Opus 4.8 quality. Introductory pricing runs $2 per million input and $10 per million output tokens through August 31, and it is now the default for Free and Pro.
