Zapier runs 800+ narrow single purpose agents instead of one big one

Zapier has deployed more than 800 internal AI agents, most of them narrow single task bots, on top of 90%+ internal AI adoption, a shape that is unusually copyable for a small business.

Zapier now runs more than 800 internal AI agents, and the notable thing is their shape. Most are narrow single task bots, calendar preparation, engineering triage, and similar, rather than one ambitious do everything system. They sit on top of internal AI adoption above 90%, reached after an early company wide push. Its legal team, for example, runs a dedicated agent that monitors AI laws and regulations and ships weekly summaries with recommended actions. Clean per hour savings figures are not cleanly published, so this is best read as an adoption pattern rather than a hard ROI number. The takeaway is the architecture decision: many small reliable agents wired into existing workflows tend to beat one large autonomous agent, and that many small agents approach is the most copyable move for a small or mid sized business getting started.
