TELUS puts a governed model layer in front of 57,000 staff

TELUS operates an internal generative AI platform called Fuel iX, built on Google Cloud, that puts Claude and other models in front of its roughly 57,000 team members. The published figures, all vendor cited: more than 500,000 hours saved to date, an average of about 40 minutes saved per interaction, over 13,000 custom AI solutions built by employees, and more than $90M in business benefits. TELUS is a large telecom rather than a small business, but the pattern it demonstrates is one a mid market company can copy. Rather than have every team wire up its own raw API calls, a governed internal layer lets non engineers assemble small purpose built tools on top of a managed model, with security and privacy handled centrally. It is the buy or managed onramp answer to the same question Box answered by building: how do you give a whole organization safe access to agents without every group reinventing the plumbing.
